Objectives
Since 1903 the GEBCO Programme has been collecting bathymetric data and mapping the Earth's oceans. GEBCO is an IHO and IOC joint Programme that relies largely on the voluntary efforts of an international collaborating community of scientists and hydrographers with the support of their parent organizations.
The Joint IHO-IOC Guiding Committee for the General Bathymetric Chart of Oceans (GEBCO) guides the GEBCO Programme and comprises 5 representatives from the IHO Member States and 5 representatives from the IOC Member States.
