Standards pending entry into force
This page provides a list of IHO standards and product specifications relevant to ECDIS that have been officially published but are not yet in force. These include standards that have been approved and released, but whose implementation dates are in the future, as defined in the S-100 Implementation Roadmap. Only standards that are intended to be implemented in ECDIS are listed here. Each entry includes the publication date, the scheduled date of entry into force, and any applicable notes regarding transition periods or dual-fuel operations. ECDIS manufacturers, hydrographic offices, and system integrators are encouraged to regularly consult this page to prepare for upcoming requirements under the S-100 framework and ensure timely compliance. S-57 Standards in Force
Introduction SOLAS regulations V/18 and V/19, requires that in order to achieve chart carriage requirements (in terms of SOLAS), the ECDIS equipment must conform to the relevant IMO performance standards. ECDIS units on board are required to comply with one of two performance standards (either IMO resolution A.817(19), as amended; or resolution MSC.232(82)), depending on the date of their installation.

Introduction The IHO Data Protection Scheme defines security constructs and operating procedures that must be followed by Data Servers (providers of data) and Data Clients (systems that use the data). The purpose of data protection scheme is to provide: 1. Piracy Protection: i.e. to prevent unauthorised use of data by encrypting the ENC information. 2. Selective Access: i.e. to restrict access to ENC information to only those cells that a customer has been licenced for. 3. Authentication: i.e to provide assurance that the ENC data has come from approved sources
