How to Get Involved
Welcome to the world of crowdsourced bathymetry (CSB), where collective efforts can help shape our understanding of the depths in our coastal zones, oceans, lakes, and waterways. This approach harnesses the power of individuals and organizations worldwide to contribute to and create improved bathymetric maps and products. Join our crowdsourced bathymetry effort and contribute to the exploration of the world's oceans like never before! We invite scientists and researchers, navigators, fishers, like-minded enthusiasts, and anyone with a passion for the mysteries that lie beneath the waves. Together, we can help create a comprehensive and accurate map of the ocean floor, unlocking valuable insights into marine ecosystems, geological processes, and potential resources. By pooling our collective knowledge and data, we can accelerate scientific discovery and conservation efforts. Whether you have access to specialized equipment or are simply an avid sailor, your contributions can make a difference.
Why CSB ?
Participating in the CSB Initiative benefits both those collecting the data and the communities of data users. These data contribute to increasing our knowledge, information which supports local regional and global initiatives in favour of the sustainable use of the oceans. They can also contribute to improved knowledge of seabed topography and better bathymetric maps or hydrographic charts in previously uncharted areas or areas lacking accurate data. This in turn can help avoid groundings and make navigation safer for all.

ENC Data Protection S-57
Introduction The IHO Data Protection Scheme defines security constructs and operating procedures that must be followed by Data Servers (providers of data) and Data Clients (systems that use the data). The purpose of data protection scheme is to provide: 1. Piracy Protection: i.e. to prevent unauthorised use of data by encrypting the ENC information. 2. Selective Access: i.e. to restrict access to ENC information to only those cells that a customer has been licenced for. 3. Authentication: i.e to provide assurance that the ENC data has come from approved sources
International Hydrographic Review
The International Hydrographic Review (IHR) is an international journal publishing peer-reviewed papers on all aspects of hydrography and associated subjects, ranging from the latest technical developments to history. It was first published in 1923 and since then has been published regularly; all previous editions of the IHR are available in the IHR Repository. The IHR can be accessed directly using the link https://ihr.iho.int.
MSDIWG14 (2023)
14th MEETING OF THE IHO MARINE SPATIAL DATA INFRASTRUCTURES WORKING GROUP (MSDIWG14) Genoa, Italy (30 January to 3 February 2023) (including joint sessions with the UN Working Group on Marine Geospatial Information and the OGC Marine DWG)
S-52 Portrayal Bulletins
Introduction S-52 provides specifications and guidance regarding the issuing and updating of Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC), and their display in ECDIS. This IHO Publication was developed in conjunction with the IMO Performance Standards for Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS). The S-52 Chart Presentation Bulletins are placed here to communicate information concerning portrayal and update issues related to ECDIS and ENC production. They may influence ENC producers´ encoding practices and should be consulted in conjunction with the S-57 Encoding Bulletins. Each Bulletin explains a particular ECDIS portrayal issue, recommended procedures for addressing the issue and the consequences of not following the recommended procedures.
