IHO S-101 to S-199
Introduction
An S-100 based Product Specification defines a data product, and usually includes additional resources such as a machine readable Feature Catalogue and Portrayal Catalogue, a data Encoding Guide and at least one data encoding format.
The latest published versions of IHO S-100 based Product Specifications can be downloaded directly from the Product Specification Register of the IHO Geospatial Information (GI) Registry; and links to the Product Specifications can be found on the IHO Standards and Specifications Download Page. A guidance document S-97 for developing Product Specifications can also be downloaded from the IHO Standards and Specifications Download Page. A list of known IHO S-100 based Product Specifications is provided below:
S-101 Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC)
Scope: The S-101 ENC Product Specification (PS) specifies the content, structure, data encoding and metadata required for compiling S-101 ENC data. The Specification also includes the portrayal requirements for use within an ECDIS. The S-101 PS will supersede the S-57 ENC PS.
Responsible body: S-100WG / S-101PT (S-101 Project Team of the S-100 Working Group)
S-102 Bathymetric Surface
Scope: The S-102 Bathymetric Surface Product Specification is based on the Open Navigation Standards Working Group (ONSWG) work on the Bathymetric Attributed Grid(BAG). It will be used as a bathymetric coverage layer for navigation and other purposes.
Responsible body: S-100WG / S-102PT (S-102 Project Team of the S-100 Working Group)
S-104 Water Level Information for Surface Navigation
Scope: The S-104 Water Level Information for Surface Navigation is intended for the encapsulation and data transfer of tidal and water level data for use in an ECDIS or any proposed dynamic tide application. Tidal and water level predictions are fundamental in route planning and entry to ports for navigation and other purposes.
Responsible body: TWCWG (Tides, Water Level and Currents Working Group)
S-111 Surface Currents
Scope: An understanding of surface currents is an important factor in the safety of navigation as currents affect the motion of vessels. Surface current information may be considered auxiliary information that complements the S-101 ENC.
Responsible body: TWCWG (Tides, Water Level and Currents Working Group)
S-121 Maritime Limits and Boundaries
Scope: The Maritime Limits and Boundaries Product Specification is intended for the encoding and exchange of digital maritime boundary information; including maritime limits, zones and boundaries as described under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Responsible body: S-100WG/S-121PT (S-100 Working Group)
S-122 Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)
Scope: The S-122 Product Specification is intended to encode Marine Protected Area (MPA) information for use in ECDIS and other information systems. MPAs are protected areas of seas, oceans, estuaries or large lakes. Marine Protected Area information may be considered supplementary additional information that complements the S-101 ENC.
Responsible body: NIPWG (Nautical Information Provision Working Group)
S-123 Marine Radio Services
Scope: S-123 Marine Radio Services indicating the location, availability, type of radio communications, frequencies and content of radio services for navigational information and other maritime radio communications. Radio services information may be considered supplementary additional information that complements the S-101 ENC.
Responsible body: NIPWG (Nautical Information Provision Working Group)
S-124 Navigational Warnings
Scope: This Product Specification is developed for creating datasets containing navigational warning information primarily targeting use in ECDIS. Navigational warning means a message containing urgent information relevant to safe navigation broadcast to ships in accordance with the provisions of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea,1974, as amended.
Responsible body: WWWNWS-SC (Sub-Committee on the World-Wide Navigational Warning Service)
S-125 Marine Aids to Navigation (AtoN)
Scope: This Product Specification describes navigational features including lights and other navigation aids, both physical and virtual; temporary and seasonal marks; and local AIS application-specific messages. Navigational services information may be considered supplementary additional information that complements the S-101 ENC.
Responsible body: NIPWG (Nautical Information Provision Working Group)
S-126 Marine Physical Environment
Scope: This Product Specification describes marine and terrestrial topography; prevailing, seasonal and hazardous currents; tides; weather; and other environmental conditions. Physical environment information may be considered supplementary additional information that complements the S-101 ENC.
Responsible body: NIPWG (Nautical Information Provision Working Group)
S-127 Marine Traffic Management
Scope: Product Specification for vessel traffic services; pilotage; routeing systems; and ship reporting systems. Marine traffic management information may be considered supplementary additional information that complements the S-101 ENC.
Responsible body: NIPWG (Nautical Information Provision Working Group)
S-128 Catalogue of Nautical Products
Scope: Product Specification for the exchange of catalogues of printed and digital nautical products; for the purpose of assessing their applications for navigational purposes; including online services and e-Navigation services for the access of these; and all available S-100 based products and services within a defined geographic area in order to assess their revision status in manual and machine readable manners.
Responsible body: NIPWG (Nautical Information Provision Working Group)
S-129 Under Keel Clearance Management (UKCM)
Scope: This Product Specification is intended to provide a suitable format for the exchange of digital data pertaining to maritime safety and efficiency of marine traffic. It includes a digital format with the necessary attribution features to enable the exchange of information between an Under Keel Clearance Management System and an onboard navigation system such as ECDIS.
Responsible body: S-100WG / S-129PT (S-129 Project Team of the S-100 Working Group)
S-130 Polygonal Demarcations of Global Sea Areas
Scope: Polygonal Demarcations of Global Sea Areas (PDGSA) datasets support the provision of digital coordinates for limits of oceans and seas to meet the requirements of contemporary geographic information systems. It is a vector product specification that is primarily intended for encoding the extent of global sea areas using a system of unique numerical identifiers only.
Responsible body: HSSC / S-130PT (S-130 Project Team of the HSSC)
S-131 Marine Harbour Infrastructure
Scope: Marine Harbour Infrastructure (MHI) datasets describe the layout of port facilities and the availability of port services. MHI is intended to facilitate berth-to-berth navigation and voyage planning. MHI is intended to be a supplement to ENC, and therefore does not describe the geographic information in detail equal to an ENC.
Responsible body: NIPWG (Nautical Information Provision Working Group)
S-164 IHO Test Data Sets for S-100 ECDIS
Scope: IHO Test Data Sets (TDS) for Electronic Chart and Display Information System (ECDIS) have been produced to fulfil the requirement for a data set necessary to accomplish all ECDIS testing requirements as outlined in the IEC 61174 standard.
Responsible body: S-100WG / S-164 Sub-Group (S-164 Sub-Group of the S-100 Working Group)
