3rd UN Ocean Conference Nice

The 3rd UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3) will take place in Nice, France, from June 9 to 13, 2025. Seabed Mapping: Enabling Ocean Action 

The theme for World Hydrography Day 2025 "Seabed Mapping: Enabling Ocean Action" underscores the critical role of ocean mapping in achieving sustainable ocean use. In line with this, the IHO will be involved in several events at UNOC 3. This page will be updated as information is confirmed.

  • In parallel, France and Monaco will be hosting related events focusing on the sustainable use of marine resources and the blue economy. One Ocean Science Congress (3–6 June 2025, Nice) 

A special UNOC3 event dedicated to science, aimed at providing heads of state, governments, and the broader society with comprehensive scientific insights into the ocean’s health and future trajectory. The congress will feature a mix of plenary sessions, keynote speeches, oral and poster presentations, as well as townhalls and roundtable discussions. 

  • Blue Economy & Finance Forum (7–8 June 2025, Monaco) 

The ocean’s socio-economic and geopolitical significance is growing exponentially. An estimated annual investment of USD 175 billion is required to transition the maritime economy into a sustainable and inclusive sector. This transformation will demand stronger collaboration between the private sector, governments, intergovernmental organizations, and civil society. This forum will bring together key actors to develop the enabling environment necessary for mobilizing large-scale investments and making this blue transformation a reality.
