NAUTICAL CARTOGRAPHY WORKING GROUP
Objectives
The NCWG (Formerly CSPCWG) provides a core of expertise on the basic concepts of charting. Whatever physical form the chart or publications may take, the fundamental concepts and elements of marine cartography remain the same.
NCWG has been tasked by HSSC to:
- Revise, develop and maintain IHO Publication S-4 "Chart Specifications and Regulations for INT Charts";
- Revise, develop and maintain Part A of IHO Publication S-11 "Guidance for the Preparation and Maintenance of International Chart Schemes";
- Maintain INT1, INT2 and INT3 (with national Hydrographic Offices' assistance);
- Develop new symbology.
Documents & Resources
With the opening of the new IHO Portal (Ref. IHO CL44/2024), all resources are now only available via the NCWG section of the IHO Portal.

Meeting
The 11th NCWG Meeting will take place in Tórshavn (Faroe Islands - Denmark) from 4 to 7 November 2025.
